Change in Umrah Permit Policy 2024 During Hajj
We have seen many changes in Saudi Umrah and Hajj Policies as Hajj 2024 approaches. I feel that all these changes are being made for the smooth flow of Hajj and less discomfort. Recently, the Saudi Government announced that from 24th May to 26th June, Umrah permits would only be granted to people with a confirmed Hajj permit.Β
Fine on Violating the Directive
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the directive. The Interior Ministry of Saudi Arabia has announced a heavy fine in case of violation of this directive. Anyone who will be caught in Makkah without a Hajj permit will be charged a fine of SR10,000. This fine will apply from 2nd June( 25 Dhul Qadah) to 20th June( 14TH Dhul Hijjah). This regulation is applicable to Expatriates, Saudi citizens, and visitors.
Fine for Repeat Offenders
The repeat offenders of this regulation will be charged again 100,000 riyals, deportation, and a complete ban on re-entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Fine for Transporters
Any transporter found guilty of this act would be charged a fine of SR 50,000 plus 6 6-month sentence in jail. His vehicle will be confiscated with a Judicial Ruling, and in case of expatriates, after paying a fine and completing the imprisonment, will be deported from Saudi Arabia with no reentry ban.
Prohibited Areas
The Saudi Government has highlighted some specific areas in this regard that are highly sensitive. These critical areas are the Holy city of Makkah, the central Haram area, Mina, Arafat, and Mazdilafah areas, Ruasayfah (Haramain train station areas), security control centers, including the temporary ones, and areas where pilgrims are being grouped.
