It is always safe for Umrah pilgrims to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after considering what they are taking on in their luggage. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been very strict about its rules and regulations and has zero tolerance for drug trafficking. However, recently, the Saudi authorities circulated a list of prohibited items for Umrah pilgrims.
These items are
- Fireworks
- Counterfeit Currencies
- Narcotics or unregistered drugs
- Illegal eavesdropping devices
- Speed Radar detectors
- Electric shockers
- Harmful Laser Pens
- Privacy-violating laser cameras
All these items have been strictly prohibited by the Saudi authorities. It is to control security measures and to provide safety to people across the globe who come to perform Umrah. Anyone violating these directives would be in trouble, said a representative of the Saudi authorities.
Umrah Season 2024
Umrah season started in late June 2024 after the Hajj season ended, and so far, around 1.8 million people across the world have performed Umrah.
Who can perform Umrah?
Muslims who have tourist, visit, or personal visas for Saudi Arabia can now go on Umrah. It is not necessary now to exclusively have an Umrah visa for performing Umrah. Saudi Arabia has made it easier for its citizens to invite friends to visit and do Umrah. People who live in the Gulf countries can now get tourist visas to visit Saudi Arabia, no matter what their job is. And when theyβre there, they can also go to Umrah.
Women can now go to Umrah without a male relative with them.
Visit to Al Rawda Al Sharifa
To visit Al Rawda Al Sharfia, pilgrims need to book an appointment online first.
Extension of Umrah Visa
The government has also extended the Umrah visa from one month to three months.
