The Saudi National Center for Meteorology has announced about Hajj 2024 weather that it is expected to reach 45 C to 48 C during the evening. The Saudi Meteorology Department has been notifying pilgrims about the extreme weather conditions to keep them aware and take precautionary measures to prevent the heat during Hajj days. The weather in Makkah and Medina has always been hot, but this year it is expected to increase by one or two degrees more than normal.
Last year during Hajj, more than 2,000 people suffered heat stress as the temperature increased up to 48 degrees Celsius.
Prediction of no Rain
This year, it has also been notified by Saudi officials that there are no chances of rain and that the temperature can reach 44 °C.
With almost no chances of rain, the average maximum temperature is predicted to reach 44 °C, says a Saudi official. The humidity level will also increase by 25%; hence, pilgrims are required to be prepared for the extreme weather and stay hydrated during Hajj days.
White Paint on Roads
The roads have been painted white to save the pilgrims from scorching heat. The paint has been locally manufactured, which reduces the heat of the roads. The roads surrounding the Nimarh Mosque and Arafat have been painted white. This white paint helps to reduce the temperature up to 20 degrees.
Last year, this paint was applied only on the roads from Jamarat to Mina. It yielded positive results and helped to reduce the temperature up to 12 to 15 degrees Celsius. This year, an area of 25,000 square kilometres around Mina has been covered, and roads have been painted with this white paint.
We pray that Allah might make this religious obligation easy for all the pilgrims and keep them safe and healthy during Hajj.
