Saudi Digital Transformation Initiative- Digital ID for Pilgrims
We are witnessing a global change as AI and technology have taken charge, and by adopting the current flow of technology Saudi Government is also making visible positive changes to make Hajj 2024 more and more comfortable for Pilgrims. A digital change has been introduced, and every process is being transformed. Digital ID for pilgrims is part of these initiatives.
Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday that digital identity service has been exclusively launched for the pilgrims who will arrive from outside the Kingdom to perform Hajj 2024. It is an effort made by the Saudi Government with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority of Saudia. It is an effort that is part of Saudi Vision 2023, which aims to harness technology to provide maximum help to people.
Absher and Tawakkalna Platforms
The service will cater to the pilgrims and will enable them to prove their identity electronically through platforms like Absher and Tawakkalna. It will certainly enhance the service quality and user experience. It has been launched to bring digital transformation at every step of religious ritual and ease it throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia with the help of technology.
Special Stamp for Makkah Route Initiative
The ministry’s General Directorate of Passports launched a special passport stamp on Wednesday for those who will be using the Makkah Route Initiative. The stamp has the initiative’s visual identity. The stamp will only be available at designated lounges at 11 airports of the seven countries initially benefiting from the initiative. These countries are Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkiye, and Cote d’Ivoire.
The Makkah Route Initiative is also one of the ministry’s initiatives to serve the pilgrims.
